Not even half a year ago that I watched Stream Of Passion live for the last time. It was at the Belgian Wieze on Metal Female Voices Fest to that time and now as support acto of Epica during their release show for the new album "Requiem For The Indifferent". For singer Marcela Bovio it was quasi a "home game" as she is momentarily living at Tilburg.
Overall the band filled 45 minutes with a cross section through all of their three released albums. However, mainly songos of the current album "Darker Days" were played. Marcelas great voice fascinated the audience as always casting a spell over them already directly during the opener "Lost". The atmosphere was great and the crowd was really going along with them. Bassist Johan Van Stratum played as usually with the audience when he was not swirling across the stage. And also Stephan Schultz this time was really sportive on stage. Of course it may not be missing that Marcela during "In The End" and "This Endless Night" was reaching for her violin and showed that she is not only vocally talented. The set passed in a flash and quickly the last song, the Radiohead cover "Street Spirit" was reached. Afterwards this meant saying goodby as the stage had to be prepared for Epica.
From my point of view it was a great gig but somehow the certain something was missing. The atmosphere was good, the setlist great compiled but somehow the performance on last years Metal Female Voices Fest enthused me more. Anyhow, as nevertheless the gig was a lot of fun and who likes more quiet metal shold take a closer look or listen to the Dutch (and the Mexican).
