31.03.2012 Frei.Wild
Grugahalle, Essen (Germany)
Already at last years Wacken edition I was able to watch the South Tyrolean on the large Black Metal Stage but what happened on 31.03. at the Grugahalle Essen was outclassing that gig by far. It was the final concert of their short "Alleine Nach Vorne" tour and formed the culmination. Originally that concert should take place at Hamm but then it was moved to the Grugahalle at Essen. Additionally the tour was planned as club tour but that was somehow interpreted in a different way at the large venue in front of roughly 4500 visitors.
But never mind, really never mind as well as on stage as well as in front of it for roughly 105 minutes it was really happening here. With songs out of 10 years band history the four guys from South Tyrol around singer Philipp Burger really knew to convince. It was a permanent change between more quite and powerful songs. So the everywhere across the venue raging pits could shortly catch a breath just to return to a kind of intense directly afterwards. All the time the songs were loudly sang along by the whole venue, the arms were permanently up in the air, incredible! Really well fitting to that pyro effects were used was it during "Die Welt Brennt" with a massive usage of huge flamethrowers or more subtle later on during "Die Zeit Vergeht" where fire bowls were used.
Overall one of the greatest concerts I have visited for a long time. That really was worth it!
