Already for a longer period of time I was taking a look whether the Dutch band Nemesea would have a gig around and now finally it was the day. At the quite well filled Atak there was first an unusual picture presented related to a rock band: with regards to the stage setting there would be not less than 3 keyboarder on stage. The music situated at the rock area is making use of many sythie effects but that was somehow strange to me.
Shortly after the intro the 5 musicians entered the stage starting directly with the nice fast number "Caught in The Middle". Now the 3 keyboard question was solved: Both guitarist Hendrik de Jong as also bassist Sonny Onderwater were permanently alternating between keys and strings. Additionally keyboarder Lasse Dellbrugge was permanently taking care of a good synthesizer basement. Not only the band was in a good mood but also the crowd directly joined them. What was astonishing me was that many of the audience were able to sing along the lyrics of this not that well known band. No matter if it was the only song of their first CD "Mana" "Lucifer" or at songs of "In Control" or the latest release "The Quiet Resistance". Nearly 45 minutes singer Manda Ophuis swirled together with her band members across the stage and it was really making fun to hear and watch them. It was a good compilation between harder and faster pieces like "No More" or "Lucifer" besides more quiet ones like "I Live".
Unfortunately at some point in time with "In Control" the last song of this evening began before the band had to leave the stage but they left a lasting impression to the audience. In my point of view a great gig. Both bands of this evening will be guest at the Metal Female Voices Fest X taking place in October at the Belgium Wieze. I am already now looking forward whether Nemesea can even overcome this evenings great gig.
