03.08.2013 Callejon
Wacken Open Air XXIV
Wacken (Germany)
(Pentax K-5 with Sigma AF 70-200mm 2.8 EX DC APO HSM II)
On Saturday morning there was firstly the Rhenish metal core group Callejon to get the tired limbs going again. Although it was quite earl that day in front of the True Metal Stage there were already quite a lot of people.
After an orchestral intro to which the musicians entered the stage they directly started with the title track of their current album "Blitzkreuz". In front of the stage the first pits started circling and latest after the Fettes Brot cover version "Schwule Mädchen" the crowd was on operating temperature. This cover version as well as Die Ärzte cover "Schrei Nach Liebe" were of the very imaginative preudonym Kallejon released album "Man Spricht Deutsch". Otherwise there was more forceful fare represented by "Snake Mountain" or "Sommer, Liebe, Kokain". Mainly all parts of the meanwhile 10 years lasting band history were passed.
A quite diversified mixture, as well as a great perfomance of the band made this gig to a worthy start of the day although I did not find the strange make-up of singer Bastian Sobtzick suiting very well. However, overall it was a lot of fun.
