09.01.2015 Delain
Turbinenhalle, Oberhausen (Germany)
After the Finnish of Battle Beast it continued just as atmospheric with Delain. Unfortunately, front woman Charlotte Wessels was not at her best that evening due to that the one or the other sound was failing but that was easily compensated by the performance of the whole band.
Since I have seen them for the last time there were some changes in the line-up. On drums there was now Ruben Israel replacing Sander Zoer. Furthermore, Merel Bechthold was strengthening the guitar fraction where I find really impressing how she is handling her instrument as her guitar is nearly as large as she is. But despite that she is really a live wire presenting a really good show together with the others. There were songs of all albums. Starting with “Mother Machine” of the previous album “We Are The Others” and later then “Army Of Dolls” of the current one “The Human Contradiction”. From mood point of view, it was going like a train and latest during “The Gathering” the crowd reached working temperature. On that the band could keep them like nothing until the end formed by the title giving track of the album “We Are The Others”.
All in all, a show that was fun but I have already seen better of Delain. Never mind! You cannot always be at your best.
